5th June 2000
Hi all,
Last night I was at a friend's 40th birthday party. It was a 60s & 70s night, which I really enjoyed as lots of 80s music was played. Very odd, but quite enjoyable.
The DJ (who may, or may not have been told about the theme) was superb - NOT! Here endeth a record, right in the middle and with an extremely noticeable "bump" before the next track started.
I did take the opportunity to have a good dance around. As I've probably said before my "talents" on a dance floor and likely to inflict an injury on someone else, and you thought the Britney Spears record "Oops, I Did It Again" was about my best friend Neil's ability to spill drinks down himself!
Fortunately tonight I didn't manage to hurt anyone, apart from maybe a few painful laughs at my Hawaii Five-O kayaking dance. Oddly though I did spill a bit of a drink on someone's arm (sorry Gillian!).
One final point, when a DJ asks people to "put your hands in the air" that should go along with the following clause: "as long as you do not have the largest sweat patches seen north of the Watford Gap!" I do not wish to embarrass the person who suffered this misfortune, so James Jack need not worry about me mentioning him by name (d'oh!).
Have a good week!
Tony
